Benefits for Builders

Simple

We have developed a block that fits together securely and easily and is basically a kids building block for builders. However that does not mean that just anyone can build an Ambionse wall as there are still standard builder’s skills required, such as measuring & cutting and getting things straight and plumb (not everyone can do that).

The bridge within the Ambionse block allows for accurate placement of the reinforcing steel, and keeps the steel in place during the concrete pour.

Because of the materials used in an Ambionse block, standard builders tools can be used. This allows a quick changeover from conventional building to Ambionse building, without a massive investment in new gear. The basic tools include a handsaw, level, and a drill – nothing complex.

The polypropylene flanges on the side of the blocks spaced at 150mm crs are provided for mechanical fixing locations for linings and claddings.

Lightweight

Ambionse blocks are lightweight and easy to handle on the job. To produce the same area of wall that 1kg of Ambionse blocks creates, you would need over 75kg of hollow masonry blocks! Just under three (3) Ambionse blocks will cover 1m², compared to 12.5 masonry blocks,

Fast Construction

Plumbing and electrical services can be placed in chase cuts within the side walls of the Ambionse block after the concrete has been poured. Compare that to masonry construction where ducts typically have to be installed prior to the blocks being filled, requiring extra coordination and costs associated with the subtrades.

Weather tends to be a big issue with other concrete construction. Not so with Ambionse. The blocks are not glued or mortared, allowing all weather construction. Because the Ambionse wall offers a barrier to water ingress, the finishing coating does not need to be installed prior to the interior work starting. This can also save time on the project.

Savings

Ambionse construction has big advantages for builders. Because of the simplicity of the work and the lightness of the blocks, the labour costs tend to be lower than those of conventional timber frame construction. These savings may take a couple of projects to be seen, as you develop your own efficiencies in working with Ambionse.

Stronger Concretebenefit1

Concrete is a mixture of cement, water and aggregate (normally stones). It is a chemical reaction (called hydration) between the cement and the water that bind all the ingredients together in a strong matrix. This reaction only occurs while the water is present. To gain full strength, it is important to keep the water from evaporating while the concrete cures. On slabs, this is normally achieved by flooding with water.

With an Ambionse wall, the inherent vapour barrier properties actively work to prevent the water from evaporating or draining out so the hydration reaction is able to be completed. This results in a concrete wall much stronger than in walls with removable boxing or even masonry. Tests in the USA show that the concrete core of an ICF is up to 50% stronger than standard concrete, simply because of the curing method.

Technical Support

benefit2When using Ambionse you don’t only get the best product for construction, you also have access to a great technical support team. We can provide instant assistance over the phone and in most cases will be able to be on site to give a few pointers and in most cases lend a hand.

The Ambionse Training Programme consists of a short video detailing the construction steps to produce a quality Ambionse project. We have found that most questions are answered by viewing this video. If you need a copy, contact us.
